Referrals
In cases of parental separation where child contact is thought to involve a risk of harm to any parties, it is worth considering legal advice and requesting that CAFCASS (the Child and Family Courts Advisory and Support Services) make a neutral assessment of how to proceed in the best interests of the child.
Stephen’s Place is in partnership with CAFCASS and will accept referrals from private sources as well as from Social Services Departments. We will work with cases involving:
• parental separation, conflict and family proceedings
• child protection
• abduction
• looked after children
• adult mental health or substance addiction problems
• re-introduction to long term absent parents
• sibling contact
• pre- and post-adoption contact
• infrequent long-term identity contact
We prefer to discuss referrals and take down the requisite details from the referrer over the telephone. Alternatively we have a referral form that we can fax or email to you on request. After receipt of this form we will then endeavor to have a discussion with the referrer wherever possible.
Stephen’s Place
Stephen’s Place provides children and young people with a safe and neutral environment where they can meet with a non-resident parent or family member. The centre is bright, warm and child-oriented with themed rooms offering a wide variety of play equipment chosen to support the contact parent/s interacting easily with their child/ren.
